what causes this phenomenon?

>japanese music video with 100 million views

>addictive and catchy song

ive noticed that the song stops being good when you stop looking at the video
probably a way to maximize views

American music uses viewbots. Japanese music videos is full of American autist and Asian fans

theres much more of these videos though
the more you look the more you find

people in the west stopped watching music videos a long time ago, only third worlders and old people (you) are watching them

Asia is big and really culture based, alot of them are more addicted to the internet than anything so it's not out of the ordinary they'd have alot of views. But I'm sure there's also some that use bots. But unlike American videos it's a mix of both.

I'm surprised how many views Japanese music still gets probably because they stay in their own culture and country and don't export their music to other peoples or countries

easy, you're a weeb

the first two felt like every other jpop song i've ever heard. the third is slightly different by being a retread of what Britney Spears did in the early 2000s but with more modernized production which is... something i guess?

projection

David Kushner

Is he related to Jared?

Are these numbers fake or are some people living in a break away society?

just normalfags

it's updated to use modern instrumentation and mixing but it's most definitely influenced by Toxic youtube.com/watch?v=LOZuxwVk7TU

what? it sounds nothing like that
name one similarity
i think you need to taake your meds

double checked
the pacing is completly different
meds NOW

I think it sounds more like a spice girls song.

y'all... at least one of you said you don't listen to much music so i guess you have a bit of an excuse but saying there's no similarities when you already admitted you don't listen to much music is a little weird.

let's go through this though

Toxic is built off a sample from a Bollywood movie which means it has a distinctly Indian flair to the violins and you can hear that same melodic tendency in the Japanese song, particulary in the phrasing of "Our night's just begun" and how the melody lilts up and back down similar to the violins peaking up and down in the Toxic sample.

From then on, the vocal melodies are similar– it's not a clear rip-off and i've never said it was, just that it's covering similar ground but while Toxic is a 2004 pop song more indebted to R&B trends of the time, the Japanese song is much more indebted to the trap sounds of today, which is why i said modernized

this anon is right though, spice girls would have been a better comparison for the talkier sections but both artists are pulling from the same general aesthetic and i specifically mentioned toxic for those lilting melodies

but saying there's no similarities when you already admitted you don't listen to much music is a little weird.

i was saying it doesnt sound similar
i still listen to music sometimes

ok wtf i overlayed both the songs to see if it was really true and the sounds are in harmony or whatever
pretty cool
