Thoughts? I think it is their best
Thoughts? I think it is their best
far better than infinite granite, initially I like it more than sunbather and OCHL but going to play it a few more times just to be sure
could well be a classic
jacob collier threads get more posts than deafheaven threads
It’s so over for Anon Babble
I don't think the album is even out yet, no? A lot of people don't listen to leaks.
It’s on Spotify
I just looked when I saw this thread and did not see it? I think it may be available only in certain countries or something.
no its not. some people had it delivered to them early. thats it
I liked it a lot, it feels like a more refined version of new bermuda. Body behavior, magnolia and doberman are absolute heaters
I guess it’s because of time zones. Feel good to be an early fag
Maybe their most ambitious since Sunbather.
On first listen, Amethyst is the biggest standout compositionally. The album needs many more listens, though.
I'm only a little mixed regarding the production.
Although the drums, clean guitars and vocals are the best sounding since Sunbather, the dirty guitars seem to get lost in the mix during louder parts.
The distorted tone sounds underwhelming in general, especially during choruses like on The Garden Route or Heathen. Even gets hard to make out what's being played at times.
Very weird considering how seriously Kerry usually takes his tone.
But still, glad the drums don't sound thin like on OCLH or even New Bermuda.
Apart from mixing, very good to hear them experimenting a bit more, even if still close to their comfort zone.
this is their most metal album easily. Riffs are pretty good here
I think they've topped Sunbather with this one. That initial transition from Incidental I to Doberman alone was amazing.
Its good. Glad they still got it
we're so fucking back bros, the transitions are so fucking good.
May have topped sunbather somehow
Jenna Haze comeback when?
I was doubtful, but fuck me - it might be better than Sunbather.
My only problem is the mixing in Youtube, the first song is just perfect volume and others feel a bit lower and not as sharp.
Second listen for today already.
better than sunbather so far but I still think infinite granite is better, not bait.
Yikes
If this was peak mu we would all be calling you a pleb. Patricians used to have standards
actually a based take
sunbather is touristcore
it's like people who got into boris when pink came out
Intimate granite was boring. If it wasn’t deafheaven it would have been instantly forgotten
it's true, patricians used to have standards, it seems like you struggle with subtlety and taste
Winona and Body Behavior are cool
They topped the emotional peak of the second half of dream house in at least 3 songs I still can't believe how the hell could they manage to do it again
Actually better than Sunbather
Winona sounds as it could've been from a Deafheaven/Sadness split.
We traversed warm boredom
Fled disappointment
And loved under the wide rose sky
We're so back, been listening to it all day
I didn't get the hype for Winona until the latter half of the song then I got it
I think it dips a little in the middle but Revelator onwards is the tits
it's good real good
4.14 with 1500 ratings
Holy shit
F*ntano will give it a light 5
gives Paysage d'Hiver a 3
Deathspell Omega review is removed because of "nazi allegations" (lol)
Fantano is a clueless faggot that should stick to pop and hip hop
Should I get blazed before my first listen?
Listen pure brother
Blaze it second listen
is this post-metal or blackgaze and what is blackgaze?
Post black metal.
It's literally just melodic black metal with occasional indie rock interludes.
This album is actually kind of a challenging listen in terms of how much is going on. Didn't feel like that with Sunbather. It's quite a lot to take in on just two listens
Ive been listening to them since 2013, in fact this sorry place is where I discovered them thanks to the Sunbather meme cover art. They are my favorite band. I was very excited for this album, and I loved the first two singles. I was expecting an album full of Black Bricks, and I only listened to it front to back once tonight. I think i will love it, I can't tell it after just one listen. I can only describe it as a disquieting experience. kind of the opposite of a song like Honeycomb or Canary Yellow. foreboding, ominous, resigned. it was great and I can't wait to listen to it again.
Pretty impressive how effortlessly woven together the distinct sounds of their previous albums are here. It’s not like they went “okay we’re gonna do Sunbather for this song, New Bermuda for that one but with an Infinite Granite middle section” they really synthesized it all
