what's the next best blink album?
What's the next best blink album?
care to extrapolate?
It is a bit esoteric
Just work your way backwards then over on to Box Car Racer for more Thomas DeLonge kino.
Their best album by faaaaaar is dude ranch
whichever one has dystenary gary its their best song because of the end
they're all pretty good tho
BCR is too depresso and dark and AvA is too spacey and prog from a guy who should not be prog. At least based on the one song i heard and didnt care for, the adventure. Tom in old incel blink is perfect
Never got into AvA but BCR is great and their only album is one of the best in the genre. Some bummer tracks on it but a lot of catchy ones too.
Dude Ranch
Enema
Anthem is so underrated
The live album is literally their only good album (which still counts because half of it was rerecorded in studio)
youtu.be
I love Neighborhoods.
Dude Ranch > Enema > Box Car Racer > Cheshire Cat > Untitled > +44 > Buddha > Neighborhoods > TOYPAJ > California > I-Empire > Nine >>>>>>>>> all the rest
BCR is fucking great. I could listen to the Instrumental and My First Punk Song at any moment.
this, is not a big thing all things considered, but in the context of all the things that happened with the guys in between makes it feel a great comeback. i always thought it was a perfect blend of Mark's og pop punk style and Tom's AVA style, with a more mature and down to earth feeling than all the stuff that came after, only harmed by the weird way they produced the album but a comfy album overall, I still think the Deluxe version should've been the standard
It’s half good half bad. Love is Dangerous is cringe.
It's been longer from now to Neighborhoods than it was Enema to Neighborhoods when it came out
Tom just casually deciding to do a one off masterpiece is insane. It's aged so well too. Music is tight and Travis put in some of the best drumming of his career on it. Love that fucking album.
jesus fucking christ
He does have some great drumming but on most of the songs he just does repeats the same line the whole song, even through the choruses.
Far from a drum expert so maybe it was just hitting hard for me but yeah I love the album to pieces. It's been weird seeing so much blink/blink related love on here the past week or so.
Listen to Elevator and I Miss You and skip to anywhere in the song and Travis will be playing the same stuff. Not that it doesn’t work just seems odd considering what he’s capable of.
I won't be able to unhear it now kek. I love the album but you're right. It works for what's going on though. 10/10 album.
Cat Like Thief and There Is as well. I guess that isn’t exactly that many but it’s more than you would think.
Enema is better than ST
This
I feel like their reach exceeded their grasp on untitled. They tried a lot of things and many didn’t work. Like the spoken word interlude, why is a British woman reading an American man’s love letters?
+44 above TOYPAJ
lolwut
I-Empire is a pop rock masterpiece
TOYPAJ is fluff. It’s a Simple Plan album disguised as a blink-182 album. There’s a reason Untitled’s style is so different. They felt so dirty after making such an insincere radio ready album.
That one may be kind of dishonest because I used to love almost every song on there and they made me feel wistful, but now I don’t listen to it at all.
there's no way you can say all that about toypaj and not bring that same criticism towards enema
you're just taking the piss now and i shant be checking this thread ever again!!
I can for a few reasons.
1. Half the songs on TOYPAJ are explicitly targeted towards children, compared to only 3 songs on Enema. And Enema ends the album with one of those, while TOYPAJ slaps you with it right out of the gate. Speaking of which…
2. Anthem >>>>> Anthem Part 2. Anthem is at least somewhat subtle and contains funny anecdotes while Anthem Part 2’s lyrics might as well be “fuck you mom and dad and fuck adults in general stop oppressing us kids this isn’t fair” for all the subtlety it contains.
3. Every song of TOYPAJ is in the verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus form except for the 42 second joke song, while Enema at least has three that are in different forms (Dumpweed, Party Song, Anthem).
4. Two of the three TOYPAJ were written intentionally to be commercial hits, compared to just one on Enema (All the Small Things).
5. Every song on TOYPAJ is designed to be consumed by normalfags, while Enema devotes a track to Tom’s weird alien fascination.
6. Enema is just better at what it does. That’s subjective I know but All the Small Things and What’s My Age Again are the best pop they ever did, while First Date and the Rock Show are just radio fluff. The Enema singles have appeared on some pretty serious lists of great songs but I doubt any of the TOYPAJ songs have. Dumpweed is also arguably their best chorus.
Instrumentally speaking, Anthem part 2 is better though, Tom's palm muting is amazing
But yes I hate the lyrics of that song by Tom, feels so forced
none. they're all fucking trash.
blink is fucking trash, if I wasn't being clear enough.
7. Please Take Me Home is a stinker and the fact that they found it appropriate to end the album with it shows how few ideas they really had. There is just absolutely nothing remarkable about it. I’m Lost Without You, Anthem, I’m Sorry, Depends, all these have an identity and do their job in closing the album. Please Take Me Home has nothing to contribute but a somewhat catchy melody you’ll get bored of fast.
I actually TOYPAJ and California are twin albums. They’re their only #1 albums, they’re almost completely verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge, they mostly lack sincerity, and they were money albums.
I’m always cringing at the lyrics too hard to notice the instrumentation so I had to relisten to see what you meant. I can agree with that.
I’m gonna type out the chorus of Please Take Me Home because it’s truly amazing how bad it is. I can’t believe this was deemed worthy of being on the album but What Went Wrong was relegated to bonus track.
please take
me home
too late
it’s gone
I bet
you’re sad
this is the best time we ever had
what's yalls take on the latest one, one more time? i say better than the mark and matt pop show, but still worse than old tom and mark. i heard anthem 3, i think i liked it, i dont remember. nothing was standout enough that i'd repeat it again and again like the old stuff, but good enough the first listen
oh and i remember hating the production of the whole album and edging was a terrible single to promote
Oh no it happened again
She's cool, she's hot, she's my friend
that's it, that's the real line we remember of this song. chorus doesnt matter. i agree what went wrong is much much better and should've been the closer instead, but it would've been a bit jarring for a pop punk record
actually all the bonus songs of this record are better than most of the songs on the actual album
he does all that with downstrokes and they said hes a terrible guitarist. i mean, definitely not near the best but his riffs have staying power and some are harder than easy to play, and those chords. and even when he fucks up live it still manages to sound good because his gears good, and then they add humor on top of it
