Conducted by Frank Sinatra?
He basically did it for himself too. He had a real good ear for the whole arrangement and putting his spin on songs.
Diane Krall sucks, that is all.
Interesting.
leafs making mall sound system "jazz"
I sure hope you guys don't do this.
She sold out a long time ago but I'm not going to sit here and agree that she's talentless. That's just preposterous.
My personal favorite
This Sammy album has some really great songs and he looks cool af with the eye patch, that is all
To be fair Dean Martin was a singles artist and not really an album guy like Sinatra was.
I demand a full album of William Shatner talk-singing GASB standards

Some of his more countryer albums are pretty good desu, but yeah I prefer singular songs over concept albums for both Dean and Sinatra
and Sinatra
Wat. His albums are fantastic.
I love this shit unironically
Yes, but I personally choose some if not all of them because of his different styles over the decades
Foreign Affairs is an excellent jazz album

Listened to Black Coffee pretty recently, pretty good overall

Does Glen Campbell count? Because I really like his music too
Frank Sinatra is tied for second most Grammy album of the year wins.
this is historically important as the first actual concept LP that was not just a bunch of random songs
Ella Fritzgerald is amazing. She has a ton of good albums
I like young Swing Ella a lot.
Peggy Lee transitioned to the emergent cool jazz scene by the early '50s. Ella however seemed to want to just keep making the same old big band era material as if 1939 never ended.
the queen of Bed, Bath, and Beyond sound system music
I saw Rod Stewart in concert a number of years ago and he was doing mostly standards shit that put off a lot of the frat girls who were just there to hear his 70s hits.

The McGuire Sisters demonstrate why they had no knack for standards and why Sugartime was more their speed. It may not be as bad as Diana Krall's rendition of this song but even so...
Dean Martin has no albums as good as Watertown
anon just got done saying he was a singles rather than an album guy
they at least sound like they're having fun and selling the lyrics convincingly while Krall sounds like she wishes she was dead

Peggy Lee did a very good rendition of this tune beaten only by Blossom Dearie's from her debut album.
bump
Watertown is overrated
