The anon who posted above you said he got a Alvarez Classical. I think they're some of the better affordable acoustics in general (they also make expensive ones though). Even though I don't have one myself. Just like I think Charvel is a good bang for the buck electric.
You have to be careful with taking solid wood acoustics outdoors though. They're susceptible to humidity changes over time. That's why I mentioned the Martin X series since I thought you'd be hauling the Backpacker around often. It's made of laminates and synthetics and humidity doesn't do shit to it.

Traded that ash strat I posted last week for this nearly untouched 2013 deluxe roadhouse strat, thing still had all the stickers on it when I got it. The ash strat felt like a dead turd, this thing plays and sounds spectacular.

Those vintage Martins had quartersawn necks (and still do). That helps. Cheap guitars don't. But even then, you'll still get fret sprout, subtle movements in the wood that over time that will cause cracks. That's going to happen eventually, but if you're careless, it'll happen quicker than it should. It isn't metal. Wood is just unpredictable.

Yeah, the transition was really hard. I found great difficulty in using it the first two years. With a Gibson you just race up and down, but with a Fender you have to make every note count; you have to make the note sing or otherwise it won't work. It's more rewarding because with a Gibson nobody has an identity.

Some of those reasons are pretty weak.
